Position Overview:

This position works closely with US Commercial Finance, Sales Technology, & AR and uses in-depth knowledge of our customers, processes & systems to oversee and provide guidance to ensure rebate and pricing allowances are loaded in the system to accurately recognize expense on our financials. The Rebate Accountant II performs annual, quarterly, and month-end tasks to ensure sales allowances are properly recorded for each accounting period. This role performs monthly reconciliations of the trade management system, completes complex analysis on trade funds, deal escalation & prepaid reserves, and makes recommendations to Business partners on risk & opportunities. The Rebate Accountant II works directly with all levels of Management to support Business objectives.

Main Responsibilities:

  • Oversee US consumer contract routings, which have a high level of complexity, to ensure all expectations for accuracy, timeliness, and accounting rules are met
  • Perform month-end & quarterly responsibilities for sales accrued allowances including postings with direct financial impact
  • Perform accrued sales allowance & AR reconciliations for US region to ensure key Balance sheet accounts are properly stated for the reporting period.
  • Perform the trade management (TPM) reconciliation and facilitate meetings with the vendor support team, McCormick IT, and Sales Finance to resolve discrepancies, so the balances are accurately stated for sales planning.
  • Provide quarterly analysis on trade funds that is used by US Senior Finance Leadership to make business decisions that impact the financials.
  • Perform ad hoc analysis on aging schedules, budget, forecasting, prepaid/deal escalation reserves, risk meeting & tax legal entity reporting.
  • Lead small sized projects and supports finance initiatives.
  • Evaluate financial controls and ensures compliance under Sarbanes Oxley. Interact with internal and external auditors as necessary to complete audits
